About City to Sea and the opportunity
City to Sea is a leading environmental organisation dedicated to preventing plastic pollution at its source. We work on impactful campaigns that inspire individuals and businesses to make simple changes that prevent plastic pollution at source.
This is an income generation role, largely responsible for maintaining existing partnerships and funders, renewing these agreements and growing key portfolios. Collaboration is key to City to Sea’s success in achieving our mission to ‘prevent single-use plastic pollution at source’ – partnerships play a crucial role in the way we do this, expanding our reach, engagement and impact.
Purpose of the role
To manage and grow City to Sea’s partners and funders to achieve sustainable and repeatable income, deliver our mutual aims and build strong, healthy and ocean-positive relationships.
Financial management, stakeholder management and strategic delivery are integral to this role. You will be responsible for the account management of partnerships across three key categories:
- National corporate partnerships and sponsors (e.g. Culligan, Ocean Bottle, Ecover and Ecosurety)
- 1% for the Planet portfolio
- Refill Destinations portfolio
Scope of the role
You will be responsible for manging income and expenditure across your portfolio, with the support of the Head of Partnerships & Public Affairs.
You will be the main point of contact for your partners and funders, leading regular status calls / meetings externally and working collaboratively across the organisation to ensure contracted deliverables are met.
You will have an income generation target, which will primarily focus on maintaining your existing portfolio of national partners and growing two key portfolios:
- Refill Destinations;
- 1% for the Planet.
You will work closely with the Head of Partnerships & Public Affairs and, where relevant, the Head of Development to support with other areas of new business relevant to partnerships and fundraising.
You will and support and grow other areas of fundraising, as prioritised by the Senior Leadership Team. This could include Crowdfunders, Trusts, Grants and Foundations (particularly corporate grants, e.g. DPD Eco Fund and Dr Bronners), Charity of the Year applications or similar.

Person Specification
- This is a manager role within the organisation, we are looking for experienced and qualified candidates with:
- Significant experience in account management and income generation
- Strong financial literacy
- Excellent presentation skills, both in creating and delivering presentations to external stakeholders with confidence.
- Excellent people skills and confidence in developing strong professional relationships with external stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong communications skills, both verbally and written. Close attention to detail for all written communication with external stakeholders, particularly for contractual compliance.
- Highly organised and efficient – experienced in working across multiple projects / partnerships at once with competing deadlines.
- Strong negotiation skills / willingness to prioritise development in this area with support from the Head of Partnerships & Public Affairs.
- Innovative, agile, creative and comfortable with change – we are a small and mighty organisation continually flexing and adapting to meet demand.
