MEET JON DEE, THE MAN SAVING AUSTRALIA FROM MARINE PLASTIC POLLUTION
Jon Dee is one of Australia’s most influential environmental campaigners. Since 1992, he has inspired millions of Australians to make positive environmental and social change – including – and this is where we got excited – his push to reduce Australia’s usage of plastic check-out bags. This campaign was initiated by Jon and in a very short space of time it generated a huge firestorm of publicity, gathering huge public support to reduce the 7 billion plastic check-out bags that were being used every year.
He then went on to help Bundanoon become Australia’s (and the world’s!) first bottled-water free town! He’s currently winning huge battles and making great progress in Australia banning microbeads.
So when he was in Bristol, City to Sea founder Natalie Fee thought she’d best get some tips on how to do it here in the UK! She asks, ‘What advice do you have for Bristol to stem the tide of plastic pollution flowing from City to Sea?’
