About Us
City to Sea is a leading environmental organisation dedicated to preventing plastic pollution at its source. We work on impactful campaigns that inspire individuals and businesses to make simple changes that prevent plastic pollution at source. We’re looking for a passionate and proactive Communications Co-ordinator to join our team and help us spread our message far and wide.
Role Purpose
As Communications Co-ordinator, you will play a key role in executing City to Sea’s communications strategy, collaborating closely with senior team members across the organisation. You’ll develop and share engaging, impactful content across our digital channels—including social media, website, and email—and support the creation and distribution of our marketing and communications materials.
A central focus of your role will be to nurture and grow our digital communities for both City to Sea and our award-winning Refill campaign, ensuring alignment with our broader Marketing Strategy. You’ll work with influencers and ambassadors, manage social media advertising, and support our relationships with key partners.

Key responsibilities
Content generation
- Support with the generation of clear, engaging and inspiring content that promotes City to Sea’s campaigns, products and services to a wide variety of audiences e.g. copy, video, photography, multimedia content, graphic, reels
- Assisting with editing and proof-reading content to ensure accuracy and quality
- Help to maintain the content calendar ensuring timely and publishing content across platforms
Social media
- Supporting the day-to-day management of social channels for both City to Sea and Refill
- Managing inboxes, comments & mentions and responding/sharing where needed.
- Engaging with comments and responding to enquiries via social media to nurture our relationship with our followers and potential opportunities.
- Planning and scheduling all social media content
- Creating branded content (photography, social assets, reels, videos etc) for our channels
- Drafting social media copy
- Monthly and quarterly reporting of social media content
Websites
- Supporting with the posting of content on websites
- Providing administrative support for the website such as hosting, forms, document uploads
- Supporting with website analytics and reporting
Marketing
- Drafting, building and reporting on email newsletters, ensuring a mixture of engaging content is shared and partner commitments are met, with support from members of the team
- Engaging with comments and responding to comms related enquiries in response to newsletters
- Contribute to the production of promotional materials
- Monthly and quarterly reporting on email marketing and newsletter performance
Inbox Management
- Checking City to Sea marketing inbox throughout the day
- Responding to enquiries where possible and passing on to the relevant team/colleague
Partnership Marketing
- Ensuring partner contractual obligations are met through monthly social content and email marketing
- Supporting the team to plan and schedule activity
- Reporting on monthly activity and quarterly partnership activity
Ad Hoc Tasks & Admin Support
- Supporting with the creation of branded marketing materials
- Sharing copy, images and brand info/assets with contacts as required
- Creating and supporting with campaign decks and branded documents
- Attending events where needed
Learning and Development:
- Develop your skills in content creation and digital communications by working alongside experienced team members.
- Take advantage of opportunities to learn new tools and techniques in writing, photography, videography, and editing.
Person Specification:
We’re a small, dedicated team, so a proactive, positive approach and a strong drive for impactful results are essential.
- Experience or keen interest in content creation, copywriting, photography, and videography.
- Basic familiarity with content creation tools, ideally Adobe Creative Suite or similar software.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- A creative mindset, bringing fresh ideas and perspectives.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
- Passionate about environmental issues and committed to City to Sea’s mission to prevent plastic pollution.
